  • Q: What can I do to preserve my food during a power interruption?

    A:

If the electricity in your house goes off, the amount of time that the freezer will stay cold varies. A full freezer stays colder for longer than a partially filled one, and a freezer of meat will stay colder for longer than a freezer of ready cooked meals. To preserve the cold temperature for as long as possible, keep the door shut. If the freezer isn't full, you can use newspaper around product to insulate it, but remember to remove when the power comes back on. When power is restored it is strongly advised that fridge and freezer interiors are cleaned.

  • Q: What is a Total No Frost fridge or freezer?

    A:

Total No Frost banishes ice from the fridge and freezer by blowing chilled air around both to reduce the humidity. Food packaging doesn't stick together, food labelling stays clearly legible and storage space isn't wasted by ice build up. Defrosting is never, or almost never necessary.

  • Q: There are different levels of energy consumption. Which one is the best choice?

  • Q: How can I get rid of unpleasant odors in my refrigerator?

    A:

Clean the inside with a mild cleaning detergent.

  • Q: What is the best way to clean my refrigerator?

    A:

Clean both the refrigerator and freezer compartments about once a month to prevent odours from building up. Wipe up spills immediately. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power. Remove all removable parts from inside, such as shelves, crispers, etc. Hand wash, rinse, and dry removable parts and interior surfaces thoroughly, using a clean sponge or soft cloth and mild detergent in warm water. Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners such as window sprays, scouring cleansers, flammable fluids, cleaning waxes, concentrated detergents, bleaches or cleansers containing petroleum products on plastic parts interior and door liners or gaskets. Do not use paper towels, scouring pads, or other harsh cleaning tools. These can scratch or damage materials. To help remove odors, you can wash interior walls with a mixture of warm water and baking soda (2 tbs. to 1 qt (26 g to .95 L) of water). Wash stainless steel and painted metal exteriors with a clean sponge or soft cloth and mild detergent in warm water. Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. For additional protection against damage to painted metal exteriors, apply appliance wax with a clean, soft cloth. Do not wax plastic parts.

  • Q: What should the temperatures be inside my refrigerator and freezer?

    A:

A temperature of 3 to 4°C on average is preferred, with upper and lower limits of 0 to 7°C. At 7°C food will deteriorate more quickly.

  • Q: How is the water filter changed?

    A:

The water filter is mounted in the plinth grill below the doors. It is removed by turning anti-clockwise about a quarter of a turn and pulling forward. The filter handle is transferred to the new filter, by sliding off, and is refitted by inserting with the handle in the vertical position and rotating clockwise until it stops. The filter must be rotated completely, to open an internal valve, allowing water to flow. Certain filters not supplied by Whirlpool may not open the internal valve and should not be used. You may need to press the OK button for 10 seconds to change the flashing F1 to a steady F99.

  • Q: The drinking water from the dispenser is tainted with a chemical taste.

    A:

Drinking water should be used regularly to prevent it lying in the appliance for long periods.

  • Q: The Red Filter Light on the dispenser is ON. How should the light work?

    A:

The life of the water filter is six months. The indicator changes from green to orange at 90% of its life and to red at the end of its life. When the filter is changed the 'Reset' button must be pressed for more than 3 seconds, it will then turn green. On early models, the orange light was rather red in colour and could be mistaken for red. Also, the reset button would not reset the indicator to green when it was orange, only when red. It will reset after 3 weeks.

  • Q: How quickly will the appliance make ice?
